Missile Simulator Systems
KeTech Defence has developed a number of training simulators for the MoD, amongst other customers. Of specific interest are:
Multiple Launch Rocket Systems (MLRS) Trainer
The MLRS trainer is currently used by the British Army and a number of overseas forces. It provides the facility for a single Instructor to train up to twelve students on representative consoles, for less than the cost of a one-on-one trainer procured with the launcher. Each student can be set an individual lesson, with interactive modification of the lesson by the Instructor available as required, including the introduction of unscheduled problems to delay 'fast' students and maintain an acceptable speed for all the class. The facility to communicate electronically between the Instructor and any selected student is also provided, thereby minimising disruption to the class whilst maximising training efficiency.
Swingfire Improved Guidance Weapon (SWIG) Trainer
The requirement for a simulator trainer was triggered by the upgrade to the Swingfire missile system.
KeTech Defence developed a trainer that combined physical and visual realism. The Operator interface replicates the actual launchers, while the screens replicate the images seen through the sights. This includes magnification by changing the viewpoint of the eye and the trajectory of the missile capture and flight.
A number of these trainers are installed and regularly used at military bases, significantly reducing the need to use live missiles for training and providing a subsequent reduction in training costs.
